Sad day for Australian Music and culture ... former lead singer Mandwuy Yunupingu of the Aboriginal band "Yothu Yindi" passed away from kidney disease.
Yothu Yindi & Mandwuy helped to bring the plight of indigenous Australians to mainstream consciousness. This eventually lead to a formal apology by the Australian Government in 2008 for the mistreatment of Indigenous peoples by successive Parliaments, governments (state and federal) and communities prior to that time.
